This afternoon, Lyonchhen Dr Lotay Tshering, Speaker of the National Assembly of Bhutan and Members of Parliament met participants from the Harvard/MIT Bhutan Trek team 2019 at the National Assembly Conference Hall.

At the gathering, Lyonchhen spoke on the importance of sustainable development balancing Gross National Happiness and Gross Development Product.

Lyonchhen said that Bhutan is a unique country and the aspirations of the people are unique too. He exemplified the advent of democracy in the country where the people were gifted democracy by our Monarchs.
He also spoke on the welfare in education and health for all the people which have been provided free by the State.
